State of the Union 0013

Mid-March. The second "final rewrite" has been completed; am just messing about with it now, going through my various notebooks for ideas and expressions I meant to include at some stages -and there are a lot of them. You know the proverbial back(s) of an envelope, the odds and sods, the genius ideas that creep up on you at night just when you're about to go under and you have to get up to scribble them on a piece of paper, that sort of thing... I am often inspired when doing the washing-up or taking a walk.

(There is a lot going on beneath the surface for all sorts of reasons which I will certainly not divulge: reading is a co-operative thing.)

Madcap / pompousness,
Just how long can one act like a teenager?
Use of doubles,
and so on.

"YKY2.0" may very well be my one and only shot, so might as well cram it with as many of my long-held interests as possible. A bit like rock then, when some bands put it all in their first album just in case they never get the chance to be allowed to record / release another one: Lo Fidelity AllStars, the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Go Team, Dubstar, etc..

A work is never done though, hence the present additions, re-edits etc.. It could always get better and be improved. Hmm... Let's say if I ever manage to reach a  90% level satisfaction with it, I'll be more than reasonably contented and call it a day, walk away with not a backward glance -can't spend more time on it, can I! Right now, it feels more like a 70, 75%, i.e. I know there's some good stuff in there ...I also know it's not overall "good".

This being said, I have no idea how to propagate the material. You know how it goes: if you have a secret, try to hide it and some people will set about sniffing it out of you / if you want to hide something, tell everyone and they won't be interested.

I swear to god, if at the end of it all more than one person who ever actually reads the bleeding thing, it will be a miracle.
